Infant Baptism (Birth to 6 years old)
Congratulations! We are happy to welcome your child into our Catholic Christian faith community and to assist you in sacramental preparation for the sacrament of baptism.
We regularly have baptisms on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM for children. If you need another schedule please inform the office. Please note: Baptisms are not scheduled during Holy Week (unless due to a medical emergency).
In order to assist you in your desire to have your child baptized into the Catholic Church, please have the following requirements.
- Please visit our office to fill up the Baptismal Application Form or fill out an Online Baptismal Application Form.
- Submit a copy of the Certificate of Live Birth of your child to the office. Please disregard this if you have submitted a copy online.
- Specify Primary Godparent(s). Request your Godparent(s) to secure a Godparent Sponsor’s Permit from the parish they are registered or regularly attend Mass.
- On the day of Baptism, you will need to have the following:
a. Baptismal Candle – if you need one this is available at the parish office.
b. White Cloth/Baptismal Gown for your child. Any white cloth is allowed.
How do I choose my Godparents?
When choosing a Godparent, Canon Law 874 requires:
- that the Godparent be at least 16 years of age
- and fully initiated into the Catholic Church, having already received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
- The Godparent must be a practicing Catholic, someone who leads a life of faith in keeping with the function to be taken on.
- If the godparent is married, he/she must be married in the Catholic Church.
